Blocked by his own system…

Oops! The father of China’s Internet Firewall recently gave a talk at a conference in Northern China. Part of his speech talked about how China was not the only government to censor online content, citing neighbor South Korea as an example. When trying to demonstrate South Korean censorship to the audience, however, the speaker was blocked, on the screen in full view of all, by his own firewall.

What was his response? Exactly what the rest of the country’s is when faced with this problem, run a VPN to get around the problem. Again, in front of everyone. Unsurprisingly, the scheduled post-talk Q&A was cancelled.
