An ignored super typhoon

Hurricanes and super typhoons generally get a lot of coverage, especially those that hit the United States. Well, unless they hit an American territory (aka colony). The Northern Mariana Islands, a US territory for decades with thousands of US citizens, was devastated by a massive typhoon in late October and yet there seems to be little or no attention paid at all, by the media, or government.

American Hurricanes

Mid-September had two massive unseasonal hurricanes, one on the east coast of the US, and the other in south-east Asia, sweeping the Philippines and Hong Kong. In some ways, the latter areas were more prepared than the American states, despite recent massive hurricanes in both places in the last few years. In the US, a chain of low-budget restaurants is seen by many as more accurate in measuring damage than the government. Also, despite similar flooding in recent years, lack of planning has left many parts of the US in dire straits, as evidenced by the lagoons of literal pig shit contaminating water.
