Harbingers of Extremism?

Interesting piece that argues that women are effective and often the earliest group to see signs of extremism in their localities. The piece argues that it is both women’s closeness and understanding of local social networks that allows them to be the first to be aware of problematic levels of grievance, and also that extremists often target women first, thus heightening their perceptions of risk. Perhaps the solution is to listen more to local women…but that would require such a massive global societal change that perhaps in the process more than ignoring women would become obsolete, perhaps misogynistic extremism itself.
