The Yellow Fever Epidemic That Wasn’t

A months-long outbreak of yellow fever in southern Africa that began last December ended in fall 2016 with relatively few places affected. When it started and as it progressed, however, it nearly became a world-wide epidemic. Not because there is no vaccine, there is, but because there was such a severe shortage of them, and extras barely made it in time. What happened?
