Fascinating and terrifying long form piece on witchcraft trials and violence in Papua New Guinea. Witchcraft has long been part of traditional beliefs in the country, but the incursion of various forms of modernity has not in fact lessened the danger to persecuted witches (nearly always women), but rather increased it.
