What is the Middle East’s Problem?

Although much ink has been used to debate the problems the region is suffering due to the century-old Sykes-Picot agreement, this piece argues that the British-French agreement is not the root of the current chaos, and is historically inaccurate to boot. This article then makes the article that the problems have nothing to do with Europe directly, but rather a crisis of legitimacy from the collapse of the Ottoman empire.
