Consequences of Ebola

As more time passes from the peak of the latest Ebola outbreak, more information is beginning to come to light about the health effects of surviving this deadly virus, and they’re not good. One of the most widespread effects seems to be the growth of various eye problems, many leading to blindness. To make this situation even worse (beyond the almost total lack of eye doctors in the affected West African countries and the continued stigma against Ebola survivors) is that some tests have shown that the Ebola virus is still there in these survivors, hidden inside the eye and therefore at risk of infecting large populations if treated with commonly used instruments.

More information is desperately needed before a large portion of those who already have miraculously recovered from this virus are subjected to perhaps a more life-changing affliction: blindness.
