Protests in Algeria


Maybe not where you would have expected it, but protests in southern Algeria have grown in size and determination: over the environmental repercussions of shale gas, aka fracking. Algeria’s Arab Spring protests were quickly shut down, and the country seems stable. But I don’t think it really is, and it’s only a matter of time before protests blow the regime to shreds. These might be the beginning warning signs of something more to come in Algeria.
